About us

Superfins WA Inc offers a Learn to Swim (LTS) Program for school aged children with disabilities operating at Lords Recreation Centre in Subiaco, and also a very successful Squads Program for children and adults with disabilities operating from HBF stadium Mt Claremont.

Superfins membership offers a complete pathway. Members can move from LTS to our squad program and swim for fitness or enjoy competitive swimming at Swimming WA events, or Open Water events or Masters Swimming events. Swim for Life with Superfins.

Superfins squads program has been running continuously since 1985 and currently has around 80 swimmers. Superfins has two squads which train at HBF stadium in Mt Claremont and offer squad based training for any person with physical or intellectual/learning disabilities. To be eligible to take part, swimmers must be able to meet the basic requirements of the club. These include being able to swim 50m in at least two recognised strokes with correct technique. Day and times vary so visit our website for further information. An important part of our charter is to encourage social interaction and we have a very full program of activities for members outside the pool.

LTS began in 2010 and has approximately 55 swimmers enrolled in either 1:1 lessons or small groups of 2, 3 or 4. Since 2015, the program has been named the Telethon Superfins Learn to Swim Program acknowledging the support of Telethon and our alignment with Telethon’s aims to improve the health outcomes and quality of life of children in WA. We believe that keeping children with disabilities safer in and around water by learning to swim, fulfils this this aim. It also provides a fun environment to learn a lifelong skill with obvious health and fitness benefits. LTS operates during the school term with lessons on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. In 2017, Telethon Superfins LTS became a Gold level AUSTSWIM recognised Swim Centre.
