From Bingo & Bubbles to the dance floor and finally being the belle of the ball – we did it all!
The Viva Perth Vegas Xperience was a huge success, filled with laughter, fun, and plenty of unforgettable memories. In total, we had 19 participants, 8 staff, and 2 amazing volunteers join us for the adventure.
FRIDAY
Our crew travelled in from Albany, Busselton, and Greater Perth (and surrounds). It was a big travel day for most, but that didn’t stop us from jumping straight into Bingo Night! With prizes galore and lots of happy (and some new) faces, it was the perfect way to kick off the Xperience.
SATURDAY
We started with a wander through Fremantle Markets, followed by a tasty fish & chips lunch at Cicerello’s. Next up was an energetic dance class with the JETS Dance Crew, where participants lit up the dance circle with their best moves. The night closed in true Vegas style with a buzzing mocktail station and casino night, complete with prizes, props, and plenty of selfies at the photo wall.
SUNDAY
The day began with glam sessions (makeup and hair thanks to our superstar volunteer Abbey), before enjoying a delicious high tea. Then came the absolute crowd favourite: Beauty and the Beast at Crown Theatre – an incredible production and a definite must-see! To close the weekend, we kept the musical magic alive with a Grease singalong movie night. Never have those lyrics been sung with such gusto – pure joy!
“Before WADSA my client only had the bare minimum activity based programs available to him. For those that work in the support industry we all know how little there is for individuals with disabilities, WADSA have an amazing program, they do various camps every month which are available for those with NDIS Funding and each camp is tailor made for those participants attending & the attention to detail in everything organised is impeccable. They also have a activities day every Thursday which can be anything from sports related programs to cooking it varies from week to week. I have noticed significant change in my clients overall behavior since joining the WADSA team and his ability to interact, he is less closed off and always looks forward to spending time with the staff and other participants.
